Alliance Members Plant Herbs May 1

Christopher A. Logue, extension team coordinator, agriculture/horticulture, of the Cornell University Cooperative Extension will  bring herb plants to the Women's Alliance Meeting on Thursday May 1, so that members can "Make and Take an Herb Garden" to their homes or gardens.

The demonstration and planting will begin at 1:15 after a noon lunch.  Please contact Jane Farrar for lunch reservations (243-6377). Don't miss this great demonstration.  Parsley that Chris brought last year to an event in May is still growing!

EBWA  May 29:  "A Sad Misfortune Once there did Schenectady befall": The History behind the Schenectady Massacre

On a cold February night in 1690, 114 French troops with 16 Algonquin and 80 Sault Native People descended upon Schenectady, New York. During the ensuing hours, 60 people lost their lives while 27 men and boys were taken captive. For the past three hundred years, historians have disputed the events of that night. On May 29, join Kathryn Weller, curator of the Schenectady County Historical Society, as she explores the early history of Schenectady and how the frontier community became embroiled in a European War.
