As the holiday season approaches, the Katrina Relief Volunteers are thinking a lot about the people of the Gulf Coast and how, even after two plus years, most of these thousands of Hurricane victims still have no permanent home, job. etc. Please help us continue to send aid and to remind these amazing people that they are not forgotten.
Here’s how it works:
The holidays can be stressful and we often feel overbooked and out of time. Wouldn’t it be nice not to cook for one night?
On December 19th 2007 we’ll make dinner for you and deliver it to your house between 5 and 6 o’clock p.m.
Leave a cooler on your porch, or tell us about any safe place to put your food, and we’ll simply leave your order for you. No dressing up, going out, thinking about what to make for dinner that night OR even being nice. It all happens right in your home. You can put on your pj’s and watch TV or invite friends, use good china and light candles [of course then you probably will have to be nice....]
The menu will be:
If you live within in area codes 12301, 12302, 12303, 12304, 12305, 12306, 12308, 12309, 12325, or 12148 we’ll bring your meal[s] right to your home. If you live farther a field you can pick up your food at FUSS [the First Unitarian Society of Schenectady on Wendell Ave.] between 5 and 6 o’clock, where we’ll be preparing the food or we’ll leave it at a prearranged location.
Along with the meal you will receive a pre-addressed envelope. Put whatever donation you want into it and mail it back. ALL proceeds will go to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. All our food and supplies have been donated so your money won’t be used for any overhead.
If you have further questions, email or call Ellie von Wellsheim at 372.6835home or 859.5114cell.
Thank you and Happy Holidays! from the hurricane releif volunteers ["The do-gutters"]
